Our MoU
signing Jan 8th

On January 8th, the Clarkson Institute hosted a landmark event in Hong Kong to formally launch our new mathematics initiative in partnership with Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge. The occasion brought together senior educators, school leaders, and academic stakeholders from across the region to celebrate a shared vision for nurturing mathematical talent.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Clarkson Institute and Lucy Cavendish College, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration to identify and support exceptional young mathematicians. This partnership establishes the foundation for the Clarkson Institute Mathematical Competition & Talent Programme (CIMP), which is designed to offer advanced mathematical experiences beyond traditional curricula and exams.

Under the MoU, selected students will have the opportunity to participate in a fully funded, two-week residential mathematics programme at the University of Cambridge, hosted by Lucy Cavendish College. The programme emphasises deep mathematical reasoning, proof-based study, and immersion in Cambridge’s collegiate environment—experiences that complement standard school assessments and help students better understand their readiness for top-tier academic paths.

The January 8th event also provided a platform for discussion on educational excellence and collaboration, as leaders from participating schools learned more about how Clarkson Institute and Lucy Cavendish College plan to jointly support student development through rigorous assessment, mentorship, and academic enrichment.

The signing of the MoU represents a significant step forward for Clarkson Institute’s mission to broaden access to world-class mathematical experiences and to empower students from Asia to excel on the global academic stage.
